CIT Program

It’s your turn to lead!

SAC’s CIT program is a two-year program for 10th  and 11th graders who wish to increase their confidence, become more responsible, and have fun experiencing special camp activities and programming together as a unit.  The goal of the program is to help teens transition from campers to future SAC staff members.

The focus on developing personal leadership skills as well as camp programming and foundational counselor skills— the first step in SAC’s leadership training program.  CIT’s also help to organize and run certain SAC programs and activities (e.g., Color Wars) and assist the counselors.

CITs learn the skills necessary to be a counselor, including camper safety issues, homesickness strategies, appropriate boundaries, camper development issues, and counselor techniques.  The program also focuses on developing and encouraging the participants’ responsibility and independence.

CITs will get significant hands-on experience as they assist counselors with the daily responsibilities of managing a bunk.  CITs will also plan programs, lead activities, and do other camp-related jobs.

While CITs will have real-world responsibilities, they will also spend time together as a unit in their own tent village and will be enjoying unique camp activities and off-site adventures.
