Interested in being a camp counselor?

At SAC we are looking for three qualifications in every staff member:

1) Leadership Qualities: Every staff member that walks onto our camp is a role model and a leader. How you act in and out of camp is something that we take into consideration. We believe that summer camps have the potential to change a child’s life and we want you to be a part of that process. That is why we ask all staff members to adhere to keeping Shabbat, kashrut, and laws of modesty throughout the day [males wearing shirts and shorts at all times; women wear shorts or skirts to their knees and shirts that cover their shoulders and neck]

2) Qualifications: Whether you are applying to be a counselor, kitchen staff, or program staff member, we want to know what makes you the best candidate for that position. Past experience, personality traits and skills are all things that we take into consideration when hiring staff members. Please note that you must be entering into your Senior year of high school or older to qualify for a staff position at SAC.

3) SAC Connection: What is your connection to SAC? Why are you choosing to be a part of our camp? An applicants camp history is one of the factors that we take into consideration. Please note that SAC history is ONE OF THE factors we consider when looking into an applicant. A history at SAC will not automatically guarantee you a position at camp, but it is something we consider. At the same time, we love to broaden our horizons and bring in new staff members who can bring their talents to our camp.

We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:
Unit Heads [1 male, 1 female]: Lead the boys/girls division consisting of up to 30 campers and 8 staff members. Unit Heads are responsible for the well-being of all the campers and staff in their unit.



Counselor [8 males, 8 females]: At SAC, our counselors are primarily role models for their kids. They are responsible for promoting the daily program for his/her campers and providing care and support for each camper. Counselors will also run certain activities/chugim for their bunk or other bunks throughout the day.



Program Director [1]: Responsible for supervision of program specialists, scheduling, evening programs, all-camp programs, inventory, and ordering of supplies.





Lifeguard/Program Assistant [1 male, 1 female]: Responsible for the waterfront/lake area. This includes the safety of campers who are swimming, boating or near the waterfront, as well as the cleanliness of the waterfront and the waterfront materials. The lifeguards will also work closely with the Program Assistant to prepare for, run and cleanup camp activities and events throughout the day and evening.




Arts and Crafts/Program Assistant [1]: Responsible for the content and presentation of the Arts & Crafts program, ensuring that it befits each age group, and connects to our camp theme. The A&C Director will also work closely with the Program Assistant to plan and decorate the events at camp and help with the program needs.




Nurse [1]: Responsible for the for health care of every camper and staff at staff. Nurse also orders and takes inventory of health materials at the beginning and end of camp.





Assistant to the Kitchen [3 males, 3 females]: Responsible to prepare and serve 3 meals each day for all of camp, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and other kitchen-related areas. Reports to Head Chef.





Head Chef [1]: Head chef will work cooperatively with their team to plan, prepare for and cook 3 meals a day for all of camp, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and other kitchen-related areas. Head chef also supplements foods for chugim and other activities (night activities, bon-fires, overnights etc.).




Media Director [1]: Responsible for taking photos of campers and events to be posted online daily, as well as writing a daily blog. Additionally, director will film, edit and set up weekly videos (3 in total) and post them online, as well as a promotional video after camp is over. Media staff must have a working knowledge of video equipment, editing software, DSLR cameras and social media.

Eligibility Requirements for ALL Staff:

1. You must be entering into your Senior year of high school or older.
2. You must be available for one week of staff training prior to the start of camp.
3. All staff must be available for training and work at camp from July 21st – August 10th, 2017.

ALL applicants must complete the Staff Application and return it by:
January 1, 2017 – Head Staff positions
January 15, 2017 – All other staff positions

Applicants who submit their applications after these dates will be considered in the second round of interviews.
