Day 7: Health

Queridos Madres y Padres,

Today was our first full Sunday up at Camp, and it means that we’ve officially been here for a full week! Although it’s a little quieter than usual because the CIT’s left for their overnight this morning, we kicked off the week by dressing up in our beloved Hawks gear and had a fun-filled, green and blue Seahawks day sponsored by the Gladstein family!! Aside from our jerseys and t-shirts, we also had Seahawks colored tablecloths, and a gorgeously decorated cake baked by our very own Shulamit.

We were blessed with a number of wonderful visitors today as well! Board President, Joy Maimon, and her husband David spent the day with us baking borekas, running for touchdowns, and testing out the Lost Lake waters via kayak. Rabbi Owen joined us at breakfast, and taught shiurim for B-1 and G-2, where they learned about the mitzvah to keep one’s body healthy. Al and Jeanne Maimon also came down from Seattle with plans to sleep over tonight! Jeanne spent the day in the Mess Hall teaching all of our campers how to shape and bake borekas!

Campers gathered in the field for a mid-morning all-camp football game, where a number of highlight reel worthy plays took place! G-3 counselor Marilyn Gladstein had three interceptions, B-2 member Victor Maimon caught the ball after it went through the hands of his father David who was trying to make an interception, and Jacob Benezra broke B-1 counselor Yosef Benzaquen’s ankles as he juked him on a run towards the end zone!! Fun was had by all, and we celebrated with a baked potato lunch.  The slightly rainy afternoon was a great change of pace, and made for a relaxed and activity-filled evening leading up to our University of Washington improvisation crew who put on a show for us for the night activity!
