First day at SAC 2017!

Queridos Madres y Padres,

The kids are finally here! Although we’ve only had a half-day with them, we’ve already done so much. One kid actually said, “It feels like we’ve been here for a week!” When the campers from the first bus started rolling off they immediately found their counselors, and started doing icebreakers with their bunkmates. Once everyone had arrived we all ran into the synagogue. There, we danced and sang old camp songs, like Ojo De Hamsa, and some fun new songs, like the Hebrew song Imperia by Eve and Lear. When that was done we headed over to the mess hall for staff introductions and delicious homemade warm cookies. Then the campers were off to unpack, tour the grounds, play different sports, eat dinner, and then we ended the night with Paint Dodge-ball! Everyone was smiling and screaming, and chasing after their friends. When we tired out, we went to the bonfire. We put our arms around each other, swaying and singing some classic Jewish songs like Od Yavo Shalom Aleinu, Ana Bekoach, and One Day and then the whole camp went to bed early… after a shower of course! We all had an amazing time and we can’t wait for another day filled with spirit and excitement!
